Anniversary
Wow!
It’s the vernal equinox and Earth Horse is one year old! Cosmic! Kismet! Groovy! Isn’t it amazing how things work out sometimes? Not all the time, of course. I guess it would be less special that way. I think it happens just enough to keep me on the hook, looking for more signs.
So what is this a sign of, exactly? Renewed creativity, I hope. Maybe a bit of growth? More light, less darkness. What would you like more of, dear readers? From Earth Horse (and beyond). I’d love to know. Comment or answer my very thoughtful poll question below.
I looked back in my camera roll to see what I was doing on this date last year, to help myself process the passage of time, and I was delighted to see photos from a visit to the Met. And not just any visit! It was actually the museum jaunt that led to my beloved chess set discovery. If that’s not a sign, I don’t know what is! Fingers crossed I’m struck by the same kind of inspiration this weekend. I need a new project to focus my energy on and feel rejuvenated by.
Maybe I need to start by asking myself the same question — what would I like more of? What will help me feel renewed? What will push aside the blocks I’ve been feeling this winter?
Spring flowers, maybe? I’m looking some lovely bodega tulips as I type this and they’re helping. Long walks after work while it’s still light out, for sure. I walked from my office in Soho to the Quad to see Written on the Wind earlier this week and it felt so good to have some sun late in the day. Have you all seen that one, by the way? Ohmygod it’s incredible! Fair warning, this space may just become Dorothy Malone fan account. That would be pretty inspired, right? Not a whole lot of folks doing that these days.
If all else fails, music will always do the trick. All week I’ve been bumping this one, so I’m passing it along to you. One of the all time great album covers, don’t you think?
The one year anniversary gift is paper. Isn’t a fresh page a lovely metaphor for this time of year too? I can’t wait to fill it.

Happy one year anniversary! It’s hard to do anything new consistently, just ask the multiple sourdough starters I’ve killed!
